Laduree & New York City Ballet’s The Nutcracker

It’s the 60th Anniversary George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker and Ladurée is collaborating with New York City Ballet to create a macaron collection that is as unique, graceful, and widely sought after as the ballet itself.  A charming Nutcracker themed box of 8 macarons is now on sale for $26 each.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each box will benefit New York City Ballet’s education programs.  It’s the perfect holiday gift and delicious too!  We enjoyed a box ourselves before heading in to a dance rehearsal.  Happy Holidays!

A must make vanilla cupcake recipe!

My mom made me these cupcakes the last time I came home to Ohio and I am still dreaming about them. In true Kloots form, they were not “bite-sized” as the recipe suggests because she knows that I don’t like bite-sized desserts. She made them “Amanda sized” and covered them in a mound of incredible frosting. I decided that I must share this recipe with all my dessert lovers out there! ENJOY!

Bite Sized Sour Cream Pound Cake Cupcakes Recipe

Oh my Peanut Butter Pie!

It’s creamy.  It’s rich.  Its covered in chocolate syrup and whipped cream.  It’s found at Mables Smokehouse in Williamsburg, Brooklyn!  What is “it” you may ask?  A perfect slice of homemade peanut butter pie on a simple graham cracker crust.  The slice is only $4.95 and after a finger lickin good bbq meal this piece of pie

Hipster Fro-yo in Williamsburg

Of course if you happen upon a fro-yo shop on Bedford Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn it won’t look like every other 16 Handles lining each block in Manhattan.  Exposed brick walls, chalk board art, and the enticing aroma of freshly baked waffle cones get you through the door, but does the yogurt and/or toppings taste any different?  Von Dolhens yogurt shop might not taste any different but the experience is.  They offer 21 unique flavor combinations and feature organic frozen yogurt, vegan sorbet, and a

Ted’s Montana Grill

If you are in the mood for some good ol’ All-American desserts head over to Ted’s Montana Grill!  Perfectly located near Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall, Ted’s has a large dessert menu that is sure to fill any sweet tooth.  We were lucky enough to have a tasting at Ted’s and we did not leave unhappy!  The apple crisp served with a huge scoop of vanilla Hagen Daaz ice cream was our favorite.  The apple slices were cooked just

Barclay Prime Philedelphia

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetimage-45

I took a short trip to Philly this weekend and had the pleasure of dining at Barclay Prime.  I’m always a fan of steakhouse desserts (and I definitely had an extravavganza of them) BUT there was one at Barclay Prime that stood out to me:  their Warm Deep Dish Cookie.  Now I’ve seen a deep dish cookie but this was a trio of Chocolate Chip, Sugar, and Oatmeal Raisin cookies!  Served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, each cookie was gooey and thick inside.  Talk about every cookie

Minamoto Kitchoan

A Body By Simone friend introduced me to Minamoto Kitchoan and I’m hooked.  She brought me one of their red bean cakes.  It’s always hard to branch out from American desserts (ie cookies. pie, cake)  when I want a sweet so I was interested to see if this mini cake would satisfy.  I was pleasantly surprised by this “healthy” sweet.  It’s low in sugar and fat but delicious.  It reminded me of a glorified and FRESH Fig Newton.  The cake was soft and the center mildly sweet.  I was impressed by the

Coconut Pudding at Barbuto

Barbuto, a Jonathan Waxman restaurant in the west village, has always been one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I had the pleasure of dining there the other night.  This small pot of coconut pudding was covered in a dollop of fresh whipped cream and chocolate shavings.  It was the perfect consistency, fluffy, and sweet!  It was as if I was eating coconut cream pie

Desserts at Catch are off the hook!

catch-shortcakeIf you have not been to this trendy restaurant in the Meatpacking district, make a reservation ASAP! The food and most importantly the desserts will blow your mind. I happened to be at Catch the other evening and enjoyed not one, but three fantastic desserts that were all unique and very tasty. The first was a strawberry pistachio shortcake with marscapone, rhubarb and tres leches shortcake. The shortcake in this dessert reminded me of a traditional English scone, one that you might enjoy at afternoon tea. Since I adore scones, this was the perfect cake to me for this dessert! The marscapaone in the center was

Terrace Pointe Cafe Las Vegas

My “Epic Girls Weekend” was spent in Las Vegas a week ago to see the Britney Spears concert.  Yes, I went and she was tired and lip syncing BUT it was still amazing…in the FRONT ROW!  My favorite part of getting away is breakfast.  My girlfriends and I went to The Terrace Pointe Cafe in the Wynn hotel every morning before pool time.  I had the world’s largest croissant EVERY day (no joke).  It was the size of my head but probably one of the best croissants I’ve ever had.  Crispy and
