Gilt, located in the stunning Palace Hotel, is one of the coolest night spots I’ve been to that has a relaxed atmosphere where you can unwind from a long day. Besides their fantastic cocktails and Michelin Star rated food, their dessert menu is quite spectacular. You can tell they take pride in the quality of their sweets. They have by far the BEST presentation of a dessert dish I have ever seen. As you can see in the photos (I apologize for the Blackberry photo; they will be replaced soon by clear ones), this place is no joke. I had the treat of trying their “Guilty Pleasures” and “Huckleberry Creme Brulee” desserts. The first is a chocolate souffle and caramelized chocolate almond cake. It is accompanied by other chocolate bits such as crisped chocolate, fudge squares, and a gold leaf. Really this is just a piece of delicious and edible art! The cream sauce you see on the souffle is poured in front of you as a part of the serving presentation. The entire dessert was delectable. It was the perfect amount that you didn’t feel overwhelmed with chocolate. The second, was the most amazing and unique creme brulee I’ve ever had. I’m not a huge fan of creme brulee in general, but this one made me melt. It was accompanied with dulce de leche and a Hungarian strudel crust. The creme brulee part was semifreddo. That was the best idea ever! It tasted like gelato and was so creamy. The huckleberry sauce poured all over the plate was wonderful. The tartness of it complimented everything. My palate was incredibly satisfied! I think you might find me at the bar with a dessert plate and cocktail frequently at Gilt in the future;-). What better way to spend the evening than to dress up and go out for a drink and dessert at Gilt. That’s my definition of Glamour: classy girl savoring a classy dessert in a classy bar. ”Gilt-Free.” Ahhh it is a sweet life! xoxoBrownie
