While staying at the Hotel Del Coronado for our two year anniversary, my husband surprised me with a bonfire and S’mores, which the hotel offers. In the evening, they set up a bonfire on the beach and have a bucket waiting with anything and everything you need to make S’mores! I swear I haven’t made S’mores since I was a Girl Scout. Actually, the first record of S’mores is Read More »

West Coast Rite Aid Locations
Thrifty’s Facebook Page
The drug store nearest where I lived in San Diego was Rite Aid. The first time I stopped in, I was shocked to see a full ice cream parlor! Started in 1919, two brothers opened a drug store which ended up with the name Thrifty Cut Rate. It was later bought by Rite Aid, but the name still sticks with their award winning Thrifty Ice Cream that Rite Aids on the West Coast still sell. This cold treat deserves Read More »

As I was walking down the street from a late morning brunch on University Avenue in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, I stumbled upon this place. I think it’s the name that caught my eye. ”Heaven Sent” Desserts is a big name to live up to. I was too full at the time, but what I saw in the shop was just a counter of beautiful sweets. Later, I ended up trying Read More »

Spreckels
While visiting the beautiful and famous Hotel Del Coronado, my sweet tooth needed some fulfilling. Walking around some adorable shops, I stumbled on this cute sweets shop called Spreckels. I love going in to candy shops cause well…it makes me feel like a “kid in a candy shop!” It’s always full of bright and jovial colors and just puts a smile of excitement on my face. This store had a great selection of candy. What caught my eye at the counter was what is called a “Browniepop.” Read More »

OMG I thought I had had the best at Extraordinary Desserts until I went back for one last time. I had the Cream Cheese Brownie and the Linzor Torte. WOW. First of all, this was the first time I’d actually sat down and had them serve me dessert. Both came out beautifully plated and WARM. When I took a bite of the brownie, chocolate oozed out from it just like a souffle. It was chewy and thick and oh so rich. The torte was thick layers of dough topped with vanilla icing and raspberry jam. It tasted like a fancy Toaster Streudel! If you go to Extraordinary Desserts, and I recommend you do, THESE are the ones you should choose! xoxoBrownie

Blue Bottle Coffee
Various Locations throughout San Francisco
Saffron Vanilla Snickerdoodle Cookie
The most chewy, soft, flavorful snickerdoodle cookie I have ever had! Blue Bottle Coffee is incredible in every way, shape, and form. Their coffee is filtered and DELICIOUS, and they serve little treats and sandwiches that compliment any latte or espresso! This particular morning, I was enjoying a Vanilla Soy Latte. To accompany this creamy beverage, I chose the snickerdoodle cookie. It was LOVE AT FIRST BITE! This cookie was cake-like, the softest cookie I have ever had. The saffron vanilla flavor burst inside my mouth, adding depth to the traditional cinnamon sugar flavor of “other” snickerdoodles. I don’t usually do dessert for breakfast but this was absolutely perfect! xoxoBlondie

Pizzeria Mozza is a new and trendy Mario Batali restaurant in Hollywood. After finishing a fantastic dinner of gourmet pizzas, we couldn’t wait to see the dessert menu. To be honest, we were just expecting some gelato and sorbet selections, therefore we were pleasantly surprised by the unique creations. We chose the Strawberry Gelato Pie, the Caramel Copetta, and the Butterscotch Budino. Read More »
