When you think of NY, a dessert that automatically comes to mind is cheesecake! Well, at Del Frisco’s, a dazzling and grand steakhouse near Rockefeller Center, they are baking up a very extraordinary Butterscotch Cheesecake! It’s ice white in color, thick with a graham cracker cookie crust and sitting in a pool of sticky butterscotch sauce that has trapped whole huge salty pecans! The cheesecake tastes like Read More »
This recipe seems super easy and looks amazing! I love the idea of serving this dessert in a martini glass! It looks fancy and delicate, like a good martini! This would be a perfect dessert to serve at your next dinner party. xoxo Blondie

Kimberly Bugler is the Executive Pastry Chef at the legendary 21 Club restaurant in New York City. Recently she developed easy summer dessert recipes that are simple enough for the home cook. Just Desserts NYC are thrilled to feature these recipes and encourage all dessert lovers to start baking!!! We will feature one at a time so you can have time to get into the kitchen. I personally love the idea of basil infused ice cream. Thai basil has a bold taste with a hint of licorice or mint. Paired with the vanilla roasted strawberries this dessert says gourmet but seems easy to follow. xoxo Blondie

Riposo 46 is a great wine bar with fantastic tapas, flatbreads, and desserts! Tonight I had a delicious flourless chocolate cake from Riposo 46. What I really enjoyed about this flourless cake was it’s dark chocolate taste and mousse-like consistency. The cake tasted like a dark chocolate bar, sort of bitter from the cocoa and served with a drizzle of fresh raspberry sauce, whipped cream, a couple blackberries, and a big strawberry. It was very rich, but the raspberry sauce and whipped cream helped to cut the intensity. So if you find yourself in midtown Manhattan, stop into Riposo 46! xoxo Blondie
Maloney and Porcelli is, to say the least, a GREAT steakhouse, and with a great steakhouse always comes great desserts. This restaurant has a special place with me since I met met my husband there….and yes, Blondie was with me at the time:-). I’ve always loved the ambiance M&P has, but while I was recently dining there, I was pleasantly surprised when a creative option for dessert was offered on their menu. A Red Velvet Sundae! It is a dish of vanilla ice cream with chunks of red velvet cake whipped in! Topped with REAL whipped cream, candied pecans, and a slice of Red Velvet cake. I had it devoured in minutes. Too many times steakhouses get stuck with plain, classic dessert choices that aren’t interesting. Bonus points to M&P for their creativity on a classic! Everyone loves vanilla ice cream with their cake, so why not just mix it in and be done with it! Thanks M&P for a delightful and fun sundae. xoxoBrownie
Ok, so I must admit I’m not a big fan of the midtown area of 8th and 9th Avenues in the 30′s, but I must say, my opinion was altered a bit when I recently had lunch at Market Cafe on 39th and 9th. What an adorable upscale diner! The food was delicious, and after a friend recommended I try their cake, I was sold on this place. I tried their Banana Cake and boy was it good! First off, it was a huge slice! Four of us shared it and there was still some leftover. I love icing and lots of it, so I was a bit hesitant when they served the slice since there wasn’t even any icing on top! There were layers of a whipped cream filling instead. Being open-minded, I dug right in to it and WOW. This wasn’t just cake, it was the ultimate banana bread! It was moist enough to taste like a cake but dense enough for a banana bread feel. The filling was just enough to compliment it. It basically tasted like amazing banana bread with whipped cream…which isn’t too bad! I do have to say, I don’t consider this a cake, at least in the traditional sense, but man was it some banana-rama goodness! I spotted a big piece of their chocolate cake as well, and I will be trying that next time! So, New Yorkers, if you’re like me and stray away from this area, do make sure you stop by Market Cafe for a meal and dessert. It will change your mind! xoxo Brownie
I don’t stop into Crumbs enough! With so many flavors and sizes of cupcakes, why I am not indulging everyday!?!? Luckily, I stopped into an UWS location this evening and was NOT disappointed. I love that Crumbs features different sizes of cupcakes. Why shouldn’t I be able to choose how big my cupcake is!?!? Sometimes I just want two bites, other days I want something normal, and when it’s been a long, hard day….I just might want the jumbo size! How unique and nice of Crumbs to think of their customers needs! Today I had a chocolate cupcake with Butterfinger frosting. Butterfinger isn’t my favorite candy bar, but this frosting looked so good I simply couldn’t pass it up! My first bite was incredible! A super moist, fresh chocolate cake with a thick sugary frosting, filled with chunks of Butterfinger pieces! I was in cupcake heaven!!! I have become very picky about my chocolate cake. Many times it has no chocolate flavor at all or is super dry. This was not the case today. Another Crumbs speciality is hidden inside the cupcake!!! In the center of their cupcakes is filling! Frosting filling!!! So, just as I was coming to the center of my cake, BAM!…more frosting!!! This time it was really buttery, almost a peanut butter flavor with no pieces of actual Butterfinger. It was creamy, lighter, and made my cupcake that much better! I LOVE fillings! Fill it up! Crumbs also bakes rather large cookies and cakes if you need something other than a cupcake. It’s official. Blondie is a Crumbs believer and you should be too!
