The Highlands

The Highlands is a Scottish contemporary gastro pub located in the West Village. I couldn’t wait for dessert because I thought the dessert menu at this restaurant looked really good. The pumpkin custard tart was INCREDIBLE! Topped with vanilla ice cream that soaked through the custard and crust, this tart was a seasonal hit. The custard was light and refreshing with just a hint of pumpkin flavor. The crust was very flakey and chewy. I loved everything about this dessert. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the sticky toffee pudding, which is one of my favorite desserts of all time. I was really looking forward to this pudding soaked with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. The pudding was really dry and flavorless. I could have used more butterscotch sauce to help the dry cake and to give the “sticky” texture. I was so sad that this pudding was not up to par. However, the pumpkin tart was incredible and well worth the $8.
