The Smith

There’s nothing like getting together for a big dinner with a group of close girlfriends.  When this happens, it means lots of desserts to share!  We recently spent a Saturday evening at The Smith, Midtown East, and decided on four of their desserts: Deep Dish Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie in a Jar, Sticky Toffe Pudding, and S’mores Bread Pudding.  The Pumpkin Pie in a Jar was our favorite!  It was like eating creamy pumpkin pie filling with the crumbly crust on top.  It was actually pumpkin cheesecake, cranberry gelee, pecan brittle and sugared cranberries.  It was heaven and made for the season… a great take on a classic dessert.  The second pick of the table was the Sticky Toffee Pudding.  It was skillet baked and chock-full of butter and sugar.  The “sticky toffee” had sunk in to the cake, making it extra moist.  There were medjool dates and vanilla ice cream as well.  The third pick was the apple pie.  With bourbon roasted apples, brown sugar mascarpone, and a sugared pie crust, you really couldn’t go wrong.  The pie crust was light and chewy and the filling was plentiful.  The final choice was the S’mores bread pudding.  The marshmallow was the best part but the bread pudding itself was a bit dry.  We loved the look though!  All in all, The Smith has got it going on right now with their dessert menu.  We were a happy group of girlfriends!
