An Incredible Evening at Vetro’s!
We were recently invited to an extravagant evening of fine ding at Vetro’s, By Russo’s on the Bay. This Howard Beach restaurant is stunning all around. After being hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, this was a celebration of their re-opening. Vetro’s was voted the #1 Best Restaurant in the Tri-State Area by OpenTable.com and was voted #4 for Best Service and #5 for Ambiance. It’s world renowned chef, Michael DeGeorgio, created a dinner to remember. We started with cocktails in their cool and chic Blue Lounge, had traditional antipasti in their warm and distinguished wine cellar, pasta and entree in thier waterfront terrace main dining room, and finished with DESSERT in their rooftop VIP lounge. The display of Italian sweets was impressive. We met Executive Pastry Chef, Marco Valencia, and praised his fine work. There were so many to choose from, we’ll give a mention to our favorites. Everything is homemade in their onsite bakery.
We started with their canolis. Holey Canoli!!! The crisp, caramelized outer cookie was light and rich and the cream inside was thick and creamy. They had it on the side if anyone wanted shots of it as well! Our next favorite was the cheesecake. It was so thick and cool with the perfect tart/sweet combination in flavor. The crumble crust was all over the surface so it was in every bite. There was a delicious cookie garnish on top that tasted like a fortune cookie! The selection of traditional Italian cookies was delightful and delicious as well. The Rainbow cookie was a standout and beautiful. We cannot give enough praise to Vetro’s. We felt special and well fed the entire night. We’re not kidding you when we say we were blown away by everything we ate. Vetro’s has so many fun events happening, just like the Latin dancing night on the roof we were there to witness. They do any kind of event and if it’s a wedding, they can make any kind of wedding cake you want. They’ve made a 72 in round cake before! It seems there’s nothing they can’t do and we love it. There aren’t a lot of places that give such hospitality and genuine passion. This family owned (the Russo’s) business is special and a gem to the bay and those smart enough to go dine there. Thanks for an amazing evening!
