Sara & Kate’s Cakery Company…a sweet little bakery in Yorkville
Sara & Kate’s is a little bakery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan that has been baking up goodies since it opened this past May. It is owned by two sisters who share the love of baking. I popped in the other day to finally try some of their cakes and mini cupcakes. Overwhelmed by choices, I finally decided on two mini cupcakes and two mini cakes that I could conveniently bring to a dinner party later. The mini cupcakes though, Nutty Banana and Pumpkin, I ate right away. For something so mini, both flavors were packed with flavor! It was like taking the best bite out of a regular sized cupcake. These minis were both fresh and extremely moist. I really enjoyed the pumpkin cupcake. It was primarily pumpkin in flavor with hints of spice and frosted in a cinnamon buttercream. The single pecan added a nice crunch with each of my two bites, haha!
The two mini cakes were a huge hit at my dinner party later that evening. I could not stop taking bites of the Spotty Banana. It was a two layer banana cake filled with vanilla buttercream. The outer edges were covered in chopped walnuts, adding the “spots.” The banana cake had such a rich banana taste and was so fresh. Each bite lingered on my tongue before melting in my mouth! I was in banana heaven!
The Red Velvet Cake, covered in cake crumbs, was uniquely frosted in vanilla buttercream. At first it threw me off because most RVC’s are frosted in cream cheese frosting, which is why I LOVE RVC! However, I looked past this (my) issue and still enjoyed every bite. Sara and Kate also bake up cheesecake and cookies that all looked delicious, so I’ll definitely be heading back to try those. It’s a little bakery that seems to be baking with love. Come by and try Sara & Kates!
