Fried goodies at The Stumble Inn
On the dessert menu at The Stumble Inn are only two things, fried Oreo’s and fried Twinkie’s! I’ve had deep fried Oreo’s before, but have never sunk my teeth into a deep fried twinkie! The breading on both treats was just a bit crispy and dusted with powdered sugar to enhance the sweetness. Fried Oreo’s, always delicious on their own, are taken to another level when breaded and fried. The inside is soft and melty, similar to the consistency and taste of when they are dunked in a glass of milk. However, the chocolate component is completely enhanced when fried because it becomes rich and fudgey. It’s simply heaven!
I can’t remember the last time I had a Twinkie, probably twenty years ago, but rekindling with the fried version was perfection! The Twinkie (when fried) expands into a fluffy, soft, and cloud-like piece of cake. It almost tastes like you get to enjoy it right out of the oven. The vanilla cream inside melts into the cake and adds that bit of sweetness to each bite. I like the Twinkie on its own, but dipping the Oreo in the chocolate sauce just added fuel to the fire. May I suggest warm caramel for the Twinkie?
