Bird Bath Bakery Opens on the UWS!
Bird Bath Bakery just opened on the Upper West Side and I couldn’t be any happier since it’s in my neighborhood! This sister to the famous City Bakery delivers delicious baked goods while being green in every way. They actually advertise that they’re one of the most eco-friendly food businesses on Earth by using organic ingredients that are regionally grown and seasonal. The bakeries are built with recycled materials, are wind-powered, and all the goods are delivered via bicycle-powered rickshaws. They even give discounts to customers that arrive by bicycle or skateboard! I tried their chocolate chip cookie (same as the popular one at City Bakery) and walnut raisin cinnamon roll. First, I recommened that you heat them in the microwave for 20-25 seconds before enjoying. The cookie was out-of-this-world! It was so dense and when I heated it in the microwave, it turned in to a heavy, gooey cookie dough consistency. The chocolate melted out in every bite. The roll, in a muffin shape, reminded me of “Monkey Bread” on top since you could pull off different chunks covered in confectioners sugar. The walnuts weren’t overwhelming and there were plenty of raisins. I liked that the top part was crunchy and the bottom was soft and filled with walnuts, rasins, and cinnamon. Both were wonderful not warmed but that heat added just a little extra “right out of the oven” taste. Bird Bath could very well be my go-to bakery on the UWS. Welcome!
