Macarons with an American Twist!

Last week we were modeling for the luxury women’s cashmere line, Minnie Rose, and got to indulge in macarons from Dana’s Bakery. Cashmere and macarons? Sounds too good to be true, right? It was! Dana and Minnie Rose decided to team up by matching her macarons to the colors of the new line being shown at the trade show. It was a brilliant way to keep customers (and models) sugar fueled for the long day! Dana’s Bakery has only been in business for a little over 3 months, but her “Americanized” macarons are quickly becoming known all over NYC. Dana, a young and adorable baker, lights up when she talks about her bakery! She decided that she wanted to take this delectable French dessert and create flavors that were familiar to Americans. So instead of Lavender and Rose, you can indulge in Birthday Cake and Caramel Popcorn! We were blown away by the beauty, the taste, and the uniqueness of Dana’s macarons! The flavors that she brought to match the Minnie Rose line were Peanut Butter & Jelly, Cup of Joe, Cookie Dough, Caramel Popcorn, Birthday Cake, Key Lime Pie, and Cotton Candy (current flavor of the month).  The meringue in each cookie was perfectly chewy with a crisp outer crust.  Each filling exploded with flavor; the PB&J with a spot of grape jam in the center, the caramel popcorn had bits of buttery popcorn inside, and the cookie dough had small pieces of dough in the middle!  The creativity and design Dana puts into each macaron flavor is utter genius,  not a detail is missed.   Then you take a bite and taste the sweetness inside and you can’t believe it’s not an actual piece of Key Lime Pie or Birthday Cake!

Dana always has a flavor of the month, which for September is Cotton Candy.  She also puts together speciality boxes designed for baby or bridal showers and holidays.  You can order online on her website and follow her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!  We promise once you go “American” macaron, you won’t go back to France!
