I love Four & Twenty Blackbirds!
I dub Four & Twenty Blackbirds the best pie place in NYC. It is far beyond any expectation I’ve ever had for delicious pie. Having a “Scooter Sunday,” my husband and I rented a scooter and drove to Brooklyn for some crazy good pie. We got there and literally got the LAST two slices of pie they had. Lucky right?! I say we were because many poeple came in after us (tourists from Texas!) and weren’t able to try their famous treat. I didn’t even care which flavors were left since everything is usually amazing. I enjoyed a Salty Honey and Strawberry Nectarine slice. First of all, nectarines are my new favorite fruit (peaches without the fuzz) and they’re in season right now. It was incredible. The natural sweetness from the fruit filled my mouth with flavor. I’m a warm pie person served a la mode, but at Four & Twenty, I could care less (they don’t serve the slices warm). The crust was thick, chewy, and flakey. How do they do it?!! The Salty Honey was a custard texture and kept me going back for delicious bite after delicious bite. You can’t go wrong with salty and sweet. Everything was so FRESH and done right. The slices are hearty but not overwhelmingly huge. I honestly have to say this might be one of my favorite places for dessert. After having so many desserts, you can really appreciate and tell when it’s something special, and Four & Twenty is a gem. AND they serve Irving Farm coffee. What a perfect lazy “Scooter Sunday.”
