Cotta, a calzone like no other
I have found an Italian eatery with not just mediocre desserts but a real winner! Cotta on the UWS not only has delicious food, great wine, and a cool ambience, it has a crazy good dessert calzone. Thick pizza dough is stuffed with ricotta, Nutella, and walnuts, then sprinkled with powdered sugar. Served with a knife to cut through it, the inside oozes out warm and delicious. Buttery bread with chocolate is a great combo and the addition of the tart ricotta balances the flavors tremendously. The walnuts added a nice crunch and nuttiness. It’s a perfect dessert to share with the table. I’ve been proven wrong on my dislike for desserts at Italian restaurants by this dish and I’m glad!
