Ted Drewe’s Frozen Custard!

After performing in 100 degree weather at The Muny, I knew it was a good night to go to Ted Drewe’s.  Ted Drewe’s is famous, in St. Louis, for their incredible Frozen Custard, specifically their concretes.  Think of a blizzard but with cold custard so thick you can hold the cup up-side-down and it stays in place!  You better believe I went there more then once.  My first trip I tried the “Cardinal Sin,” a tribute to the beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Thick and creamy custard mixed with tart cherries and chocolate fudge.  The cherry flavor popped with the cream and chocolate.  It was so dense and refreshing.  My second choice ended up being my favorite, “The Big Apple (big surprise I know).”  I was drawn to my home state’s creation.  This was frozen custard mixed with an enitire slice of apple pie and topped with whipped cream.  YES!!!!!  Oh my goodness this was out-of-control.  Chunks of flakey and buttery crust were throughout.  I tell ya, sweet mixed with buttery is a great combo, and add apples in to that equation?!  I could not stop eating it!  The whipped cream was a nice touch in the pie theme as well as a great texture addition.  Ted Drewe’s definitely has something special going on here, and you can tell others agree from the lines of people that flock there everyday.  They always serve it to you in a size larger than what you ask for which is a double bonus!  My current request, Ted, come to The Big Apple!
