Gooey Butter Cake!
Gooey Butter Cake! This is what I kept hearing I must try in St. Louis…so I went to the source: Gooey Louie’s. I met the owner, Kirk, who was incredibly nice and told me about his small busines success. Gooey Luie’s has been voted #1 St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake years in a row. The secret ingredient in this cake is the cream cheese. It’s so sweet that it adds a bit of tart (and gooey-ness) to balance it out. I tried the original and blueberry versions. I could have eaten both cakes! It was like a better version of a cheese coffee cake. The edges were cooked and chewy while the inside was GOOEY! Everyone at The Muny was “Mmmmming” after their first bite. I can’t wait until my next visit so I can try such flavors as Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime. I now feel like I’m in the St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake Club!
