Coolhaus to beat the summer heat!
On these insanely hot summer days in New York City there is nothing like having some ice cream. Luckily, after spending the afternoon in the park, I happened upon the Coolhaus truck and decided to spend $12 on two ice cream sandwiches! Yes, they cost $6 a sandwich, but they are quite large and gourmet. I decided on two flavors that were listed as specials: key lime pie ice cream with snickerdoodle cookies and blueberry acai ice cream with frosted red velvet cake cookies. I loved the contrast in flavors in the key lime pie sandwich. The ice cream was tart and refreshing while the cookie was sweet. The cookies on both sandwiches reminded me more of a muffin top because they were slightly cakey, chewy, and very soft. The softness caused the ice cream to spill out the edges, but made biting into the sandwich nice and easy! Both ice creams were more icey than creamy, but burst with their individual flavors. I was basically shoveling these sammy’s into my mouth because they were melting really fast from the heat. It got very messy very quickly! I enjoyed the unique flavors of ice cream and cookie combinations available at Coolhaus. From double chocolate cookies with sea salt to vegan carrot cake cookies and then ice creams such as beer & pretzels! It’s definitely a gourmet ice cream sandwich experience when you come to the Coolhaus truck. Follow them on Twitter to know the daily truck locations.
