Quite the “Catch!”
Catch, in the Meatpacking District, is quite a “catch!” If you’re looking for a big and fun way to dine with exclusively delicious fare by Top Chef winner Hung Huynh, head to NYC’s chic part of town to this seafood-centric restaurant. After recovering from the pure bliss that their Cantonese Lobster left me with, I was ready for something sweet. As part of a group of friends that knew the chef, I was destined to eat whatever dessert was brought to me. I was not disappointed. We started with the Banana Brulee Split, followed by the Fresh Baked Cookie Bucket, and finished with the Warm Apple Pie. Decomposed from it’s traditional form, this banana split was intirguing and tastey. Their was a raspberry “bombe” (or scoop of ice cream), a gianduja bombe (a sweet chocolate containing 30% hazelnut paste), and a cookie dough bombe. I loved the raw cookie dough that was served next to the vanilla ice cream! The bananas were “bruleed,” making them crispy and sweet. The creativity made the dessert fun to consume and enjoyable. The cookie bucket was fun and far from boring. I mean, there was a fried Oreo!!! The chocolate chip cookie was of the highest quality and thick with dough and chocolate. The warm apple pie was out-of-this-world. This would be my favorite of the trio. It was made with a bourbon meringue and golden raisins. Golden raisins definitely have a lighter taste than dark, and they fit perfectly in the flavor combination. The artistic crust was light, crispy, and fun to eat! Served a la mode, this is one pie not to be missed. Catch is quite the culinary experience, and I will be “fishing” there again for more delights!
