The Publican


The Publican, a new hot spot, is located in downtown Chicago.  Once inside, you immediately are transported to a medieval German, rustic lodge setting, where beer  and meat are the focus.  I may have had one of the best dinners ever that evening, and dessert wasn’t to shabby either!  I ordered the peanut butter banana cream pie. How could I not?  I love banana cream pie and the addition of PB literally made me go NUTS!  The crust was thin, flakey, and had a satisfying salted butter taste.  The bananas were firm, yet soft and mixed into a slightly sweet pudding.  I loved that the layer of creamy peanut butter was spread in between the crust and pudding allowing every bite to have both ingredients.  A mountain of fluffy meringue was topped off with chopped peanuts and a chocolate drizzle adding crunch and sweetness.  YUM!  This pie was a perfect end to a fabulous meal.
