My quest for the perfect pumpkin dessert #8
Junior’s, the famous Midtown eatery, sells a small “on the go” sized cheesecake called Little Fella‘s. Compared to their normal sized slices, they truly are a “little” version. I was excited to see they offered their fall flavor, pumpkin, in this convenient package. While Midtown isn’t the best area in town for dessert lovers, Junior’s always comes through when I’m in the mood for something sweet and I consider myself pretty lucky to work right across the street from it!
So I sit down with my Little Fella and dig in. Here’s the deal: it’s not the best pumpkin cheesecake I have ever had, but it served its purpose. Even though I loved the size of the slice, I found this little version to be too thick and slightly pasty in texture. I’m not saying it wasn’t good – I ate the whole thing – but I don’t think I will be choosing this dessert again. It reminded me of when I get a mini cupcake and it ends up having no flavor, is very dry and nothing like its bigger counterpart. Does this ever happen to you? I bet if I sat down at Junior’s and ordered a regular slice of their Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake, it would have been better. Especially compared to the whipped, flavorful and very creamy pumpkin cheesecake I just had at Billy’s Bakery, this Little Fella couldn’t even compare.
I give it 2 out of 4 pumpkin pies.
