Underground Bakery, Cape Cod

My biggest surprise on Cape Cod was at this little Underground Bakery near the theatre where I was performing.  One of the crew guys of the show said I had to get their French Donut.  I went in thinking I’d only be getting this great donut, but when I saw they had a Red Velvet Brownie, I couldn’t resist!  My big surprise from this bakery was the French Donut.  It didn’t look like anything special, and I actually thought it might not be that good, but I was SO WRONG.  This goes down as one of the best baked goods I’ve had.  I know, dramatic, but I couldn’t believe how good it was!  It was covered in cinnamon and sugar and was SO MOIST.  The butter, cinnamon, and sugar seemed like it had just seeped all the way through the donut (or muffin from it’s looks).  Paired with a cup of coffee you can’t go wrong!  I was less impressed by the Red Velvet Brownie.  I think I just liked the fact that it was a Red Velvet Brownie with cream cheese swirled through it.  It was just ok in flavor and was extremely thick and fudgey.  Don’t get me wrong, I ate it, but the French Donut was the real winner here.  Again, get the French Donut!
