My quest for the perfect pumpkin dessert!
As soon as fall hits all I want is PUMPKIN! Pumpkin coffee, pumpkin soup, and most importantly pumpkin desserts!!! So, it is going to be my personal little adventure to find the best in NYC! Yesterday after lunching in SOHO I decided to pass by my favorite bakery right now, Little Cupcake Bakeshop. Yes, I know I go there a lot and you may be thinking, “Amanda, you need to find other new bakeries!” You’re right, I do, but I can’t! They always have a wide variety of goodies and I had a hunch that they might have some new pumpkin desserts on display. I was right! Mini Pumpkin Cheesecakes, personal Caramel Pecan Sweet Potato Pies, and Pumpkin Spice Cake and cupcakes filled the glass case. What to choose?!? In the end, the slice of cake won over my heart. The two layer cake was extremely light and fluffy and filled with all the right spices. It was a big slice, but not dense at all, so I didn’t have any trouble eating the whole thing! Colored sprinkles topped the frosting which added a nice crunch to the moist cake. My one and only complaint was that I needed more frosting in between the layers and on the sides of the slice. I ended up asking for a small side of extra buttercream in a cup, which they were more than happy to hand me. This cake was absolutely delish and a great way to start my pumpkin adventure! I give it 3 1/2 out of 4 pumpkin pies!
