Confiserie H. Kurmann, Luzern, Switzerland
What I love about traveling to different countries is learning about their desserts by simply eating them. While in Luzern (Lucerne), Switzerland, I needed a little afternoon pick-me-up. I stopped in to Confiserie H. Kurmann (sweet shop) right on the Reuss River and chose one of their Birnenweggen’s. This, in my opinion, is a giant homemade Fig Newton. The filling was dried pears with nuts and a buttery pastry covering. It was so fresh, I don’t think I can go back to eating Fig Newtons from a package again. The fruit filling oozed out with eat bite. A delicious afternoon snack!
