Life is sweet at Thomas Sweet!
A visit to Washington, DC is never complete without a stop at Thomas Sweet! Ice cream, soft serve, and chocolates abound at this old-school parlor. Thomas Sweet is famous for their signature item called the “blend-in.” Basically, you choose an ice cream or soft-serve base and add to it any candy topping, nuts, or fruit. With their drilling machine, it all magically combines and swirls out to one perfect blended treat! You want to make it into a sundae? Go ahead and add hot fudge or caramel sauce on top with whipped cream and order a blend-in sundae. This time I couldn’t resist creating a sundae of my own with their creative ice cream flavors! They rotate them everyday and use the finest ingredients to mix up small batches, ensuring fresh ice cream with every scoop. Thomas Sweet was the first parlor to serve Oreos and Cream in the 80′s! For that reason alone I had to try the Oreos and Cream along with Cookie Mess topped with marshmallow sauce, mini peanut butter chips, toasted coconut, and whipped cream. Toasted coconut, by the way, is my new favorite sundae topping. It’s so sweet and crunchy and quite delicious, you must try it! Sitting outside at a picnic table on a warm summer evening with my sundae in hand… I was in complete bliss!
