Berger’s Famous Cookies

Berger’s Cookies, in Baltimore, began back in 1835.  It was passed down through the years between brothers, family, and friends.  Still open today, they are known as Baltimore’s Best, winning the coveted award in 2009.  I walked into my theater the other day to find boxes and boxes of Berger’s Cookies in the greenroom.  I had never heard of Berger’s, but everyone was buzzing around the theater talking about them. Yummy, yummy, yummy!  This cookie was exceptional.  The bottom portion reminded me of the famous black and white cookie in New York City, soft and cake-like. The fudge was a cross between a brownie and chocolate icing.   The two layers are such a simple concept, but the flavor was intense and complex. I can definitely see why Berger’s is so famous!
