Gervasi Vineyard is the most amazing restaurant in Canton, Ohio. You feel like you are transported to a rustic lodge. In this particular case, a beautiful holiday decorated lodge. They have what every restaurant strives for gourmet food: lots of vino and delicious homemade desserts. I first tried the mascarpone cheesecake with an almond cookie crust. OUT OF CONTROL!! I was fighting for bites while sharing this dessert with my Mom. The almost inch thick almond cookie crust was soft and chewy. Mascarpone is an Italian triple cream cheese that is made from creme fraiche. It gave the cheesecake a rich flavor that melted in my mouth from the creaminess. There was a praline sauce swirled on the plate that added a sweetness to each bite. It was Y-U-M-M-Y! The next dessert was something very unique…a Nutella pizza with toasted hazelnuts served with a side of vanilla gelato. The pizza crust was thin and crispy while the edges were thicker and chewy. Spread generously all over the dough was the Nutella topped with crunchy toasted hazlenuts. Nutella is already a chocolate-hazelnut spread, so adding chopped hazelnuts enhanced the nut flavor. These desserts, along with the gorgeous atmosphere, definitely put me into the holiday spirit. If you find yourself here, stop into Gervasi!
