Not Just Rugelach…DONUTS!
Alright, here are some more delicious donuts! Contrary to Bomboloni’s yeast donuts (they framed our review and set it by their register!!), these are cake and oh so scrumptious. I found out about them from a friend that lives in my neighborhood. Rules: #1 You can only get them on Sundays, #2 They are only at the local outdoor markets, and #3 They run out so get there early (believe me I tried for 3 weeks and they were gone). There are two choices: Apple Cider and Raspberry Filled Jelly. They are so fresh and buttery, their fried-goodness soaks the bag their in. You can see in the photos how the cinnamon and sugar just came right off all over my fingers. The Apple Cider is perfect with a glass of milk or cup of coffee. Dip it right in and enjoy! It’s crusty and sweet on the outside with that soft cake-like inside. The Raspberry Filled Jelly was OUT OF THIS WORLD. First of all, it had some good weight to it, which meant there was a good amount of jelly inside (I hate when there’s a skimpy filling). The jelly was plentiful and so fresh. Did I mention how FRESH these donuts were? This bakery is based in new Jersey, but you can get them at multiple outdoor markets in the city. Click here for their schedule. They sell every Sunday on the UWS from 8-5 pm. Their Apple Cider are 75¢ each or 3 for $1 and the Raspberry Filled Jelly are 75¢ each. They are the best cake donuts I’ve ever had, and I feel like I have to tell everyone about them! Well, good thing I can on here:-). It’s a perfect start to a lazy Sunday.
