Van Leeuwen Opens at Tavern on the Green!
As I was going for a run in Central Park today, I went by Tavern on the Green and saw a bunch of press going on. I realized that today was the opening of the four food trucks there! Representing dessert, is the Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream Truck. After hearing great reviews, I decided today would be the perfect day to try some of their ice cream! I came back later and couldn’t decide which of the new seasonal flavors to order, so I got both: Pumpkin Pie and Eggnog! There’s something so wonderful about eating an ice cream cone. It makes you light and happy like you’re a kid again. Even though it was dreary and cold outside, Van Leeuwen had the longest line compared to the other trucks. It’s seems everyone there agreed with me. I forgot about the weather once I got my double scoop cone of holiday flavors. The Eggnog was incredibly creamy and you could taste the cinnamon and nutmeg. These spices blended perfectly with the Pumpkin Pie. You can never go wrong with these flavors, which were deliciously poignant. I was instantly put in a jovial mood and ready for the rest of the evening! I grabbed a nice cappuccino (btw they have great coffee) to-go and was on my way. What an exciting new place to get a sweet treat and enjoy right in the park in their outdoor eating area. Go grab some delicious ice cream and warm right back up with a hot coffee…it’s a lovely combo! (They are open daily 10 am-10 pm)
