Round two at The Post House and I decided to get their berry crisp and some dessert wine. Well, in more detail, their fresh seasonal fruit (cherries and blueberries) sauteed in butter and cinnamon sugar, topped with streusel and served with ice cream. I decided on the fruit crisp since that day a friend of mine had asked me where he could get a great fruit cobbler. My recommendation was steakhouses always have great cobblers, and I wanted to test that theory out. I was proved right by this one. It was warm and light, with just enough streusel crumble on top. The crisp was easy to dig in to without any effort. The berries were fresh and flavorful with a rich sweetness from the cinnamon sugar and butter. The vanilla ice cream was the perfect touch. I can never thoroughly enjoy a warm crisp without vanilla ice cream. Their ice cream is all homemade right in the restaurant as well! To accompany my dessert, I enjoyed one of their dessert wines, Chambers Muscat from Australia. It was deliciously sweet, and I could taste the dried fruits and caramel. This drink was definitely a dessert in itself. As I slowly sipped, I endured a shot of cool sweetness that was delightful. Steakhouses do serve a good dessert, and I will continue to prove this concept throughout my dessert travels. Thanks, Post House, for proving that you fall in this assumption.
