Frost! What a captivating name for a cupcake shop! Delightfully decorated cupcakes sit in a glass case so that each guest is enticed when entering. With Halloween approaching, most of the designs were themed for “trick-or-treat.” Along with the cupcakes, Frost bakes cookies (gluten free as well) and Texas Sheet Cake. The Candy Corn Cupcake was just to cute too pass up! I love a vanilla cupcake, but it was the three layers of frosting that sealed the deal! This white cake was extraordinary! It had a true vanilla flavor and tasted freshly homemade! The frosting…oh my goodness the frosting! It must have been made by the frosting gods — exactly the kind of frosting that I crave on every piece of cake or cupcake that touches my tongue! This thick, sugar-sweet butter cream hardens a little as it sets but melts in your mouth with every bite! It’s Halloween cupcake happiness!
Texas Sheet Cake is a famous Texas dessert! Obviously right, Texas is in the name. Being in Texas for the week, I knew it was a MUST EAT SWEET! For only $3 I bought a slice of sheet cake that literally was as big as the “Lone Star State!” The bottom is one layer of brownie-like cake, perfectly moist, fudgey, and rich. It really tasted like they took brownie batter and cake batter, mixed them together and created cake confection! The frosting for sheet cake traditionally has pecans mixed in to it. At Frost, they keep things simple, and sometimes simple is best! No pecans, just delicious rich chocolate frosting. You know that saying, “With a name like Hellman’s it has to be good.”? Well, with a name like Frost, it has to be amazing! And it is! So much so that you want to inject yourself with a few frosting shots before you walk out the door!
