Located inside the Park Central Hotel is the newly renovated Cityhouse restaurant. Lucky for me, I had just enough time to enjoy a dessert before a show at City Center! On their menu for fall is a dessert called the Autumn Leaf. The name alone piqued my interest! It was an almond cake filled with roasted pears and bavarian cream. It was covered in buttercream and finished with crushed candied almonds and two leafs made out of marzipan! The plating and presentation was very pretty!! This is definitely a dessert for almond aficionados! Marzipan is made from almond paste and egg whites, so there were the two marzipan leafs on top, almond flavoring in the cake, and the crushed almonds on the edges. The pears folded inside the moist cake were my favorite part! They were soft, but added a nice contrast in texture to the cake and bavarian cream. I also loved the crushed almonds along the buttercream edges because they added a wonderful crunch to every bite. Cityhouse is located right by City Center! If you are heading to a show, stop by for something sweet!
