Have you ever heard of the “Caveman Diet?” If you’re like me, I hadn’t heard of it until I came upon Caveman Cookies. My friend brought me a bundle of them, and they instantly sparked my curiosity. This diet is a holistic way of eating based upon the food we “grew up” with that is easily digestible rather than foods that have recently been introduced into the human diet (and when I say recently, I’m talking hundreds of years ago…ex: grains and dairy). Can a cookie be good if it has no sugar in it??? Well, I was interested to find out. I sampled their “Original Caveman Cookie,” which is made up of 8 ingredients (that’s right, you can count the amount on your fingers AND pronounce them): almond flour, walnuts, raisins, ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The cookie itself is chewy and soft, and it seemed extremely fresh. It really tasted like a version of an oatmeal raisin cookie! I enjoyed the strong 3 spice flavors, and it had a nice “rawness” to it that made me feel like I was eating something good for me. I can’t believe these cookies are Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, and Dairy-Free, along with being Vegan, high in protein, and high in fiber. Really, cookies can be healthy for you??? Sign me up for that! They also sell Tropical and Alpine Caveman Cookies, which are fruity and chocolate in flavor. You can buy them online or find them at various stores in NYC and Utah. And yes, cookies without sugar can be good if they’re Caveman Cookies!
