I was so excited to go here since I found out that the owner actually went to my high school!! Oh yes, Olentangy High School in Lewis Center, Ohio: home of the Braves. We were different years, but it’s such a coincidence to be in the same city and he owns a DESSERT place! My eyes were so stimulated with the world of chocolate they have happening there, I didn’t know where to start. First of all, they have crazy sweet concoctions with flavor combinations that will blow your mind. What I ended up tasting were three different truffles. I had a Raspberry Balsamic Peppercorn, a Sassafras Vanilla Bean, and a Lavender Sea Salted Caramel. These flavors were truly divine. I’m not huge on the spicy chocolate combo with peppercorn, but this pleasantly surprised me and had the perfect amount of every ingredient. I only tasted a hint of pepper towards the end and the raspberry was a sweet balance. The Sassafras Vanilla bean was my favorite. I learned that Sassafras is what was used to make Root Beer! It’s a tree and the roots of the tree were steeped to create the flavor. The root flavor together with the vanilla bean had such a creaminess and sugary taste. The Lavender Sea Salted Caramel was blissful with that salty/sweet combo and then a touch of freshness from the Lavender. There are many delicious creations to try at Eclipse from custom hot chocolates, Rococos (large chocolate chunks filled with yummy ingredients), cupcakes, coffees, and so much more! I had their Chai Iced Tea which was INCREDIBLE and I highly recommend it. These guys are masters of chocolate. There creativity and attention to detailed flavoring is quite impressive. They change up their flavors constantly with the truffles so there’s always something new to try. They also never use additives or preservatives, using only natural ingredients and as many organic ingredients as possible. The only sad part about this review is that I am now on the other side of the country and can’t go there! I guess I’ll just have to order online;-). xoxoBrownie
