How could I not enter a place that’s called “Chocolat?” The ladies in the cast of the show I did in San Diego all went out for an “Eat, Pray, Love Day.” We took yoga, went for pizza, and finished off getting gelato at Chocolat before heading to see the movie. It was a lovely day! Gelato is such a creamy and cool treat, and this place didn’t disappoint. Their vast selection of flavors was impressive and hard to choose from. I had previously had the dark chocolate (very rich and delicious), so that day I chose half Oreo and half Nutella. What I love about gelato is that the ingredients are so fresh and less air is pumped in to it than ice cream, so the flavor is incredible. It’s stored at a warmer temperature than ice cream, which makes it softer. This gelato was divine. There were chunks of smooth Nutella and Oreos generously spread throughout my serving. When eating gelato, I feel a bit of the Italian culture, and it made it seem like I was there just for a moment. Another great aspect of Chocolat is that it’s open LATE! Weekdays it’s open until 12 am (yes even Sunday night) and weekends until 1 am! More places should learn from their hours since everyone loves a late night dessert! They also serve food and other sweet treats as well. For some impressive gelato, head to Chocolat in Hillcrest. xoxoBrownie
