Carl Michaels Catering
So I was shooting a TV show yesterday and the catering company brought out a huge Red Velvet sheet cake during lunch. I was so excited I didn’t even want the actual lunch food: Just the cake please! I patiently waited for everyone to pass through the food line, so I could dig in to the dessert. Most people ask what Red Velvet cake actually is, so here’s the simple answer: A cake somewhere between chocolate and vanilla flavors, usually bright red, dark red, or red-brown in color, and with a creamy white icing. Preferred amounts of cocoa are used in the ingredients, along with either red food coloring or beetroot. Cream cheese is a common icing choice. This particular one seemed to have been made with food coloring and definitely a cream cheese icing. The cake was so moist and full of sugary goodness. The icing was whipped and light with a strong cream cheese taste. There was a substantial amount of icing as well which made me happy. The combination of cake and icing was light and flavorful. This cake, I must say, was darn good for a “craft services.” I highly recommend this catering company for any event you want to plan. The executive chef, Carl Michaels Savino, is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and has created one of the most sought after catering companies. I can understand why. xoxoBrownie
