Since it’s Sunday, the much anticipated brunch day of the week, I thought I’d post a great brunch place I recently dined at.  When I heard that Bobby Flay came to Cafe 222 to do a “Throw Down“ with their Peanut Butter and Banana Stuffed French Toast, I had to find this place and try it!  Located in the Gaslamp area of Downtown San Diego, it is right near the marina and has a fun quirkiness to it.  My friends and I didn’t wait very long at all, and the service was lovely.  I was blown away when they set the plate in front of me. PB and bananas are one of my favorite combinations.  I love PB and banana sandwiches and this was a PB and banana sandwich covered in whipped eggs, cream, vanilla, rum, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt then sizzled on a skillet.  Cover it with some honey, butter, powdered sugar, and maple syrup and you’re in Heaven. Warm and gooey is all I have to say about this french toast.  The creaminess of the PB just melted in my mouth with the soft and maple syrup soaked bread.  This is a definite must while you’re in San Diego.  And yes, Cafe 222 won against Mr. Flay:-).  xoxoBrownie
