When you think of NY, a dessert that automatically comes to mind is cheesecake! Well, at Del Frisco’s, a dazzling and grand steakhouse near Rockefeller Center, they are baking up a very extraordinary Butterscotch Cheesecake! It’s ice white in color, thick with a graham cracker cookie crust and sitting in a pool of sticky butterscotch sauce that has trapped whole huge salty pecans! The cheesecake tastes like pure, whipped cream cheese. You might think it sounds to heavy and rich, but somehow it is whipped, fluffy, and light. Getting into the sweet butterscotch sauce and salty pecans was a must for every bite!! The soft texture of the cake with the gooey/crunchy sauce was out of this world! I may even say that this cheesecake might be my favorite in all of New York City!!!
I cannot however leave this review without mentioning that I also had their famous Lemon Cake. The Lemon Cake is six layers, fresh lemon curd separating each one. I was told that they always keep it off the menu, as in a dessert special, because it is so popular and frequently sold out by the end of the night. Brownie first introduced me to the Lemon Cake and I have been waiting for the day I could go and try it! HEAVEN ON EARTH! REFRESHING! EXTREMELY MOIST AND FLAVORFUL! Layered on the outside was a thick lemon buttercream that had that sugar crystal texture that dissolved on your tongue! I cannot believe I am going to say this, but it is actually a cake that does not need frosting! The cake is so good on it’s own that I did not mind, in fact very much enjoyed, the bites without it. The cake melted, actually melted in my mouth. You do not need teeth for this cake it’s so moist! Del Frisco’s has an elegant staircase that leads to a second level bar area, so whether you dine upstairs or on street level you get a great view of sixth avenue! It’s a wonderful restaurant for a romantic date, large parties, business dinners, or just for dessert! xoxoBlondie
