On the menu it’s called the “Sundae,” it should be called “Brilliance in a Bowl.” Walk if not run to ABC Kitchen for dessert, their entire dessert menu perhaps. I sat at the bar in disbelief! How could I choose?? The “sundae”, chocolate cake with marshmallow frosting, vanilla chip ice cream cake, cobbler, pie……STOP IT RIGHT NOW! HOW IS A GIRL SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE! It’s like being in TJ MAXX and finding a collection of Marc Jacobs bags! Luckily I had a buddy and he ordered the Blueberry Pie with Sweet Corn Ice Cream! (More on that later) Back to the sundae which consisted of three generous scoops of salted caramel ice cream swimming in a pool of hot fudge. Drizzled all over the top and hidden in hot fudge were candied peanuts and caramel popcorn. Did somebody say Cracker Jacks? Yes, over here, I did! If you had a blindfold taste test you might not be able to tell the difference, although the cold ice cream might give it away! The softness of the ice cream with the hard crunch of the peanuts, cut by the rich fudge and caramel corn that stayed crunchy till the last bite! Terrific!
Blueberry Pie!! OH MY! I took a trip back to Ohio today. Back to my Mom’s kitchen in the good midwest where you find the best homemade pies! That’s the best way to describe this pie; like you walked into your Mother’s kitchen in the heart of America! I LOVED the crust!! Thick, so buttery, fantastically flakey, and stayed together with every bite! Good crust is hard to come by, but “ABC” definitely has figured out the “1,2,3′s” of baking! The blueberry’s were stuffed inside with their sweet syrup pouring out as your fork cut through. The Sweet Corn ice cream sat on top, saturating the sugared crust so that it could get that “dunked in milk” texture. I also loved the fact that it was an whole individual pie, no slices here! This way you were able to enjoy the amazing crust with every bite. I’m only sorry I could not get a better picture because it was so perfect! I CANNOT WAIT to go back to ABC Kitchen! From drinks to dessert they serve up a spectacle! xoxo Blondie
