Walking around George Washington University the other day, I happened upon a small ice cream parlor called Cone E Island. It looked so good from afar, I knew I might find something unique inside! I simply couldn’t resist ordering their Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream! Since Red Velvet Cake is one of my favorite cake flavors, I was hoping the ice cream form wouldn’t let me down. The only other time I tried this flavor was at Tasti-D, which sadly tasted NOTHING like Red Velvet Cake. Here, there are actual pieces of cake mashed into a vanilla based ice cream with generous swirls of cream cheese frosting mixed in. It was PERFECT! It was almost like someone threw a freshly baked cake into an ice cream maker and VIOLA, your cake is now ice cream! So head on over to GW University whenever you are in DC. Cone E Island also makes some fantastic looking sundaes and milkshakes! xoxo Blondie
