Blueberry Beignets with Creme anglaise and Almond Ice Cream!  Steakhouses always have good desserts and true to tradition is Parlor Steakhouse.  Located on the Upper East Side, this is a small, quiet, and romantic restaurant.  When I saw Blueberry Beignets on the dessert menu, I simply couldn’t pass it up!  I love blueberries and I had just seen beignets on the Food Network, so this was a combination that was meant to be!  There were only four small beignets lightly dusted with powdered sugar and covered with slivered almonds.  On the side was a delicious Creme anglaise for dipping and a small scoop of almond ice cream.  The beignets were almost like little ravolis instead of pillows that you normally see.  I liked how small they were because it allowed the blueberry filling to be very distinctive.  The slivered almonds added a really nice crunch against the soft texture of the beignet.  Creme anglaise, a light custard usually for pouring or dipping, was the perfect consistency and only added to the sweetness of the dessert!  I love dips!  Dips are fun and give the eater a chance to interact with their treat!  The almond ice cream was very flavorful and nicely reflected a handful of almonds.  It also cleansed my palate in between beignet bites!  This dessert was creative and had so many components that it kept my taste buds interested.  This was a perfect ending to a big meal!  xoxo Blondie
