For dinner the other night, my husband and I went to Serafina. This Italian restaurant is famous for their amazing pastas and homemade pizzas. (now with whole wheat crust!) I don’t know about you, but after pizza I always crave dessert. It must be that salty/sweet thing! We decided to order the apple pie made in their brick oven with a side of sweetened cream. I also insisted on a scoop of vanilla ice cream because I can’t eat pie without it! The pie itself was very soft, but not mushy. The apples were layered high and sweetened with cinnamon. I did miss a thick, crunchy pie crust that I so much enjoy in apple pie. Although, I don’t think that is this kind of pie. I knew I wasn’t ordering an “All-American” apple pie you might get at a county fair. The Italians are more subdued, and so I appreciated this pie for what it was. The sweetened cream on the side was delicious! A very generous scoop almost acted like ice cream “a la mode.” Since I had actual ice cream too, the best bite was a little ice cream, apple pie, and whipped cream all in one! Also on the menu was a dark chocolate souffle with a nutella center! I just might have to go back for that one! xoxo Blondie
