Papardella, a fantastic Italian restaurant on the UWS, just opened a walk-up gelato stand! It has been open for a few weeks, and I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about this! I love the food there, and now I’m even more in love with their creativity! My husband and I walked up to their adorable window (on West 75th Street and Columbus) for an evening treat, and they informed us that not only do they have gelato, but homemade cookie gelato sandwiches! Of course, we had to try the sandwich. We chose the chocolate chip cookies with vanilla gelato. WOW. AMAZING. WHAT? Seriously, this was awesome! The cookies had some giant chocolate chunks in them, and they were soft yet crunchy. They seemed under-baked a little, which was a perfect compliment to the gelato. The vanilla gelato was soft and creamy. Really, the entire dessert was fresh and gooey. Mmmmmm. This is definitely going to be a regular spot. I can’t even tell you how good this was; you just need to go. They also serve gelato on a waffle cone. What a perfect and quick snack to get on a hot summer day. Please go and try one!
