Brownie and I hosted a “Just Desserts NYC” party at Brownie’s apt.  She had just returned from Columbus, Ohio with boxes of Brownies from Sugardaddy’s.  Sugardaddys’s is a delicious bakery that was featured on Bobby Flay’s Throwdown.  Bobby Flay, despite his best efforts, lost to Sugardaddy’s in a Brownie Throwdown.
Meanwhile back in NYC, Blondie had just heard of Hot Blondie’s Bakery around the Union Square area and was dying to order some.  Hot Blondie’s is an online bakery that bakes a creative variety of Blondies and Brunettes (Brownies)…
With many sweets in tow and too many for even us to eat, we invited some of our dessert loving friends over for a NY vs. Ohio Brownie/Blondie contest!  I call it “Power Hour”  because we cut each treat into bite size pieces and ate until they were all gone.  The aftermath was a room full of girls in sugar comas and very full belly’s.  So, here are the results folks.  Our hometown vs. the Big Apple!

Hot Blondie’s goodies arrive in an adorable box with leopard tissue paper!  It’s definitely a “hot” way to receive sweets.  I ordered the sampler which included the Classic Blondie, Butterscotch White Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk, Oatmeal Raisin, Classic Brunette, S’mores, Nutella Hazelnut and Espresso White Chocolate.   Each one is baked in their own square pan so that every Blondie/Brownie has crispy edges and a gooey, chewy center.  Brilliant idea!  The overall favorite of the night was the Original Brunette.  It was EVERYTHING a Brownie should be:  under baked, chewy, chunky, crisp hard outside with a soft, fudge center.  This Brownie should define all others.
Our next favorite was the Espresso White Chocolate.  Forget your morning cup of joe because this Brownie is sure to wake you up.  The espresso flavor is strong, but not overwhelming, and plays to the moist, under baked texture of the brownie well.
You may think you are sitting at a campfire while eating the Smores Brownie.  We LOVED the buttery graham cracker crust and marshmallow center.  We all agreed that because it was VERY rich, there needs to be more marshmallow to balance the chocolate.  But, the combination of ingredients were a perfect addition to a Brownie base.
Our two favorite blondie flavors were the Oatmeal Raisin and the Butterscotch.   For a lighter blondie, try the Oatmeal Raisin.  It won our hearts for it’s light and airy texture.  It was not at all dense, but chock full of oats.  The blondie was nice and sweet and chewy just like an oatmeal raisin cookie.
The Butterscotch Blondie was a true blondie in every way.  Dense,  cakey, crispy outside and chewy inside.  The butterscotch pieces were plentiful and flavored the entire blondie.  The sweet, buttery taste made it hard to stop eating after one bite.

Sugardaddy’s treats arrive in individual plastic cases that have sweet labels defining what is inside.  Here is a play by play for Sugardaddy’s.  The Tahiti Brownie was just like a magic cookie bar.  You could taste every ingredient from the coconut to chocolate chips in every bite.  The Strawberry PB Blondie was OUT OF CONTROL!  Remember in middle school how your PB and J sandwich would get crushed inside your lunch box?  Now take that crushed sandwich, roll it up, and put it into a blondie form.  That is what this tasted like.  Just add a glass of milk for lunchtime satisfaction The Salty/Sweet Blondie is covered in nuts which makes every bite crunchy and salty!  Then the sweetness from the blondie base kicks in and a flavor explosion erupts in your mouth!  I really appreciated the quality of nuts on top.  They were huge, colossal cashews, pecans, and almonds.  This blondie was a favorite among the taste testers.

Another favorite for its unique flavor combination was the Chai Blondie.  With a bold orange flavor hitting the cinnamon gingersnap pairing, this blondie was as refreshing as a chai latte!  For a change in taste, try the Chipolte Chili Blondie.  This is a fiery one that kicks in right at the end of your bite.  It’s very fudgey and rich, but then plays a trick on you with the spicey ending.  We gave points for the unique taste and surprise kick!  The last highlighted brownie from Sugardaddy’s is the Mint Sandwich.  Like an Andes Mint on steroids, this brownie is filled with a minty center and is very refreshing.  The fluffy icing in the middle is a perfect compliment to the rich dark chocolate brownies above and below.  What a wonderful way to end a meal and cleanse your palate.
So…you may ask, “Who won? What was the favorite?”  We gave points to both bakeries for the adorable packaging and presentation.  The overall top brownie was the Original from Hot Blondie’s.  The best blondie was split between three of the Sugardaddy’s flavors.  The Tahiti, Strawberry PB, and the Salty Sweet.  All in all we were in heaven trying all the flavors.  Both bakeries have created phenomenal treats that were unique, fresh, and tasty!  Ohio DID NOT let us down and NY proved to be a true champ!

We just finished sampling brownies purchased online at http://www.Sugardaddys.com. We found each individually wrapped and packaged brownie to be moist and tender, with a just hint of flaky crumble that made the taste sensation really stand out. These brownies were not only large, but seemed to weigh in very heavy as well. We will be testing the NY versions next, but from what we’ve experienced so far, these will need to be nothing short of gourmet excellence if they are to measure up.
