For over a year now my little sister Anna, Blondie Jr., has raved about the Chocolate Chip Cake from Billy’s. So for her birthday this year, we ordered one. I have been to Billy’s before and loved their cookie sandwich with buttercream icing spread between. I used to be a white cake lover, but lately chocolate cake has been a Blondie fav! I guess opposites do attract! This chocolate cake had a dark chocolate taste to it. I don’t think that it is made with dark chocolate per se, but the richness in chocolate flavor gives that impression. In between the cake layers, Billy’s spreads a thick layer of vanilla buttercream icing. If you reference back to my picture above, you can see the best part of this cake. The marriage of cake and icing in the middle of the slice is a nuptial blissful bite. It produces an ultra moist, fudge filled, sweet creamy sensation in your mouth. This is the BEST part of the cake. I also enjoyed the chocolate chip topping, sprinkled over the buttercream. I love the crunch of a chocolate chip paired with the smooth cake and buttercream combo.
